Stefan Hammel on the purpose of therapeutic accompaniment

What it is good for

The time between appointments

Practicing usually takes another person, looking something up takes the right book, and your own session only gets discussed four weeks from now. Here, all three are there right away.

Practice whenever you have time

Practice clients who are ready at any hour. You lead the conversation; alongside it, a panel shows what is working and what you have missed.

Look things up without leafing through

Questions about terms, techniques, and boundaries — answered from the work, with the source under every answer.

Talk through your own session

Upload a real recording. It gets anonymized, and out of it come a summary for the file and a supervision of your work.

This replaces no training, no supervision, and no treatment. It fills the time in between.

Scope and cost

Free of charge — with a limit that can be raised

All you need to use it is an email address. No password, no payment details, no further information.

What a free account holds

Topics per week
1
A topic is a conversation you start.
Contributions per topic
30
How many contributions of your own fit into one conversation. After that, start a new one for any further matter.
Supervisions per month
1
A real session, uploaded and discussed.

More to start with: for the first 30 days after signing up, it is 4 topics per week.

If you need more

For a training course, for your own practice, for a group: just ask. The request goes to a person who answers — nothing is unlocked automatically and nothing is charged. Seminars and training groups also hand out vouchers that raise the limit for a while.

Request more usage

What holds all of this up: you allow Stefan Hammel to write to you occasionally — at most a few times a year, when there's a seminar date, a book, or a training course. That's the exchange for using this at no cost. Say the word, and it stops; your access stays unaffected.

Your data

What happens to your conversations is up to you

Processed in Frankfurt

The application and database run in Frankfurt am Main, and the language model through the EU endpoint in European data centers. Your messages are not stored there and are not used for training.

No reading along, no tracking

No advertising networks, no analytics services, no tracking pixels — not even in the emails. Two technically necessary cookies, nothing more. That's why there's no cookie consent banner here either.

Easy to resume

A conversation doesn't end when you close the window. You can come back later, reread it, keep working on it — for as long as you want, and no longer.

You choose the retention period

When your conversations get deleted

Four levels, changeable anytime. Shortening the period also removes older conversations — a nightly run enforces it. There is no “forever” level.

  1. Only for this conversationAfter that, it's gone.
  2. Seven daysTime for one more look.
  3. Thirty daysThe default.
  4. One yearFor the longer learning journey.

Who's behind this

Stefan Hammel

Dr. phil. Stefan Hammel, born in 1967 in Ludwigshafen, is a systemic therapist, hypnotherapist, and author. He studied Protestant theology in Heidelberg, Leipzig, Tübingen, and Aberdeen, spent eight years as a parish minister, and has since worked part-time as a hospital and psychiatric chaplain.

He completed his therapeutic training at the International Society for Systemic Therapy and at the Helm Stierlin Institute in Heidelberg, as well as at the Milton Erickson Institute Rottweil, with a focus on hypnotherapy for children and adolescents. He directs the Institute for Hypnosystemic Counseling in Kaiserslautern.

This combination of pastoral care and clinical-systemic work shapes his method: he understands counseling as “a conversation at eye level,” with as little power difference as possible.

The foundation

Where the answers come from

The body of methods behind this application comes from his professional books, from the handouts, worksheets, and practice sheets of his trainings, from case examples, and from verbatim transcripts of real counseling sessions.

What this application is not

You are not speaking with Stefan Hammel here, but with a language model that works from his texts. It can be wrong, and it can miss his stance. Check what you take from it, and when in doubt, go to the source — it appears under every answer.

In the counseling conversation, it's about your own concern — that's intentional, because experiencing a session from the client's side teaches more than any description could. It is still not a treatment, not a therapy, and not a diagnosis, and no person is answering. If you're not doing well, turn to a person: your doctor, a psychotherapist, the on-call medical service, or the nearest emergency room — and in an acute crisis, call 112, available around the clock and free of charge.
